Artist paints mural at Locust Street Park

Joanna Spicer is adding some extra color to Locust Street Park. Spicer, who teaches art at Our Lady of the Angels School, is painting a patriotic mural on the front of the park’s concrete block storage building along Route 462. The mural, which is based on the Pledge of Allegiance, features an eagle on a somewhat abstract red, white, and blue background. (The preliminary drawing is shown below.) She will also paint the building’s north side.
The project was commissioned by the Old Columbia Public Grounds Company and is being funded by private donations.
